We introduced a program to assess and to plan students own dietary life by themselves into the lesson of "Nursing care on Dietary Habits". This teaching method can be lead to increase students motivation and understanding of relevance of nursing and living. In this report, subjects were 52 sophomore students at Sapporo Medical University, Department of Nursing. Question sheets were given to students to assess and plan their own dietary habits as learning materials to teach nursing care for nutrition. Findings revealed that students received basic knowledge about nutrition and nursing. And students also improved their own dietary habits. Additionally students were motivated not just by the assignment but by the interest in their own dietary habits. After more completion of the assignment, the students remained motivation to learn more about this subject and their interests extended to learn the application of these skills to patients.
