The party came into power through the General Election of 1997. The idea of having a local parliament has been accepted by the local inhabitants in Scotland. The purpose of this article is to give a factual description of the current state of the speech community. Other than the standard Scottish English, the speech community retains Scots - a variant of Scottish English.
