The study subjects were 257 female nursing and paramedical students aged 18 through 20 in a self-administered food frequency questionnaire survey. They were divided into two groups, one interested in bone health and the other not. A total of 73.2% of subjects were interested in bone health. Though 38.8% of the subjects interested in bone health answered \"I am doing something good for bone health\", only 8.7% of the subjects not interested in it did. Subjects who were interested in bone health more frequently drank milk or milk-related beverages and soybean products thanthose who were not interested in it. The total quantified food intake was higher in subjects who were interested in bone health than for those who were not interested in it. The percentages of students who exercised regularly of both subjects who were interested in bone health and those who not were 30.6% and 36.2%, respectively and there was no significant difference between the groups.
