This was done by asking them to provide a written assessment of the risk of such accidents so as to evaluate their nursing ability at the time of graduation. Eighteen fourth-year nursing students agreed to participate in the study. We analyzed the assessments of the students from the point of view of accident prevention considering Gordon's Functional Health Pattern.The results showed the following characteristics. They found it easy to pay attention to the body function pattern, but they did not pay attention to the conditions of life and the characteristic patterns of human actions. It also became clear that the assessments did not sufficiently consider the relationships among these factors. Though about half of the students paid attention to the environmental conditions that could lead to a fall, most emphasized the physical condition of the person being cared for and none considered the nursing system and its relation to the patient. We need to increase the number of targets in the future and improve the assessment abilities of students.
