Previous studies have suggested that sleep disturbances increase the risk of suicide without going through depression. Adverse childhood experience, which has a long-term effect on mental health, is also a serious problem. We conducted a study to investigate the association between parental rearing attitudes in childhood and sleep disturbances in adulthood by performing a questionnaire survey. A cross-sectional survey performed with the residents of a provincial city in Japan. A total of 1,500 male (aged ≧ 30 years) subjects were randomly selected by a computer from the basic resident register after stratifying them by age. The subjects were assessed by personal characteristics, the Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale (CES-D), the Social Readjustment Rating Scale (SRRS), and the Parent Bonding Instrument (PBI). We obtained an answer from 400 people (26.7%) among 1,500 subjects. Their average age and standard deviation were 48.3±8.6 years at the time of the survey. According to performing a logistic regression analysis that assessed each parental bonding type compared with optimal bonding adjusted for CES-D and SRRS, “affectionless control” and “awaking during sleep,” and “affectionate constraint” and “a sense of insufficiency of the sleep” were significantly associated, even after controlling for age (OR 2.93, 95% CI: 1.46-5.87; OR 0.24, 95% CI: 0.07-0.79, respectively). Our study raises the possibility that the parental care of a child affects sleep disturbances in adulthood.","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_7_identifier_registration":{"attribute_name":"ID登録","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_identifier_reg_text":"10.15114/smj.87.63","subitem_identifier_reg_type":"JaLC"}]},"item_7_publisher_32":{"attribute_name":"出版者","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"札幌医科大学医学部"}]},"item_7_source_id_7":{"attribute_name":"ISSN","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"0036-472X","subitem_source_identifier_type":"ISSN"}]},"item_7_version_type_15":{"attribute_name":"著者版フラグ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_version_resource":"http://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85","subitem_version_type":"VoR"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Motoki, AMAI"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Masanori, NOJIMA"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Toshio, SATO Yukari UDAGAWA"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Mitsuru, MORI"}]}]},"item_files":{"attribute_name":"ファイル情報","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_date","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2019-08-26"}],"displaytype":"detail","filename":"0036472x8763.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"1.0 MB"}],"format":"application/pdf","licensetype":"license_note","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"label":"0036472x8763.pdf","url":"https://sapmed.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/15488/files/0036472x8763.pdf"},"version_id":"fd041dec-1b56-4a46-bdcf-b7e2ad9e149f"}]},"item_keyword":{"attribute_name":"キーワード","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_subject":"Men's health","subitem_subject_language":"en","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"Sleep disturbances","subitem_subject_language":"en","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"Parental rearing attitude","subitem_subject_language":"en","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"Depression","subitem_subject_language":"en","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"Life events","subitem_subject_language":"en","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"eng"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"departmental bulletin paper","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"Parental rearing attitudes in childhood is associated with adult sleep disturbances independently from depression and life events: a cross-sectional survey in Japan","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"Parental rearing attitudes in childhood is associated with adult sleep disturbances independently from depression and life events: a cross-sectional survey in Japan","subitem_title_language":"en"}]},"item_type_id":"7","owner":"14","path":["2063"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"PubDate","attribute_value":"2019-08-26"},"publish_date":"2019-08-26","publish_status":"0","recid":"15488","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["Parental rearing attitudes in childhood is associated with adult sleep disturbances independently from depression and life events: a cross-sectional survey in Japan"],"weko_creator_id":"14","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2023-12-13T05:03:06.820267+00:00"}
