 note = {Influenza is one of the most important infectious diseases. In Western countries, it is recognized that countermeasures for influenza are one of the most important subjects in public health, and their purpose is to prevent complications and deaths in high-risk persons. In Japan, influenza vaccination among school children started in 1962. However, influenza was considered a minor illness and the Japanese Ministry of Health and Welfare stopped recommending vaccination in 1994. In 2001, national recommendation started again. However it is not for school children but for the elderly.In this paper, we introduce our study which evaluates the effectiveness of influenza vaccination in institutionalized elderly persons and review the literature about the effectiveness of influenza vaccine.},
