 note = {In order to evaluate the factors relating to depression among family caregivers for the frail elderly before and after the introduction of the Long term Care Insurance System （LTCIS）, cross sectional studies were conducted in K-district, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan.Depressive caregivers were they were more likely to consult with their doctors, in poor health condition, and felt a greater burden than the non-depressive caregivers before and after LTCIS. After LTCIS, they were more likely to care for the demented elderly with behavioral disturbances than their counterparts and less likely to go out without accompanying the elderly.Even after the introduction of LTCIS, half of the caregivers were depressive. The introduction of public long term care insurance for the elderly does not appear to have provided sufficient quality and quantity of social services for the disabled elderly and their caregivers.},
