Death in the rural area is somewhat different form that in the urban area. People facing death seem feel more secure or dignified in the rural area. In Japan one tends to confirm one’s value through how one can influence and help others.  End-stage condition often robs people of the ability to do something to others, which means, ends up depriving them of their dignity. In contrast, rural residents, especially those who do not have the ability to catch up with urban life, cannot help living “there”, and other residents cannot help accepting them as they are. They are already “alone as they are” long before they  approach ends of their lives. This is one of the reasons why they do not get disturbed and remain dignified.
